Nissan and Habitat for Humanity Bring It Home for Local Communities

If any automaker could be called firmly committed to supporting local communities by helping people build affordable and eco-friendly places they can call home, it'd be Nissan. In a recent press release, our brand announced that it would be donating $1 million to Habitat for Humanity, in order to help the non-profit construct "greener" homes with all the trimmings, from low-flow toilets, faucets and showerheads and programmable thermostats to compact fluorescent lighting and more. However, this wasn't the first time.

Indeed, this year marks a milestone, a 14-year commitment that's had our automaker working directly with more than 135 families, racking up more than 116,000 volunteer hours and building homes to make memories to last a lifetime. They'll even be adding 12 more families in 2019 and 2020. In total, that's more than $17.9 million since the company partnered with HFH in 2005.

Its dedication doesn't stop there, either. Nissan has also donated a total of 54 Nissan Frontier trucks and Nissan NV Cargo vans to the cause to help with construction work. The experts here at Lithia Nissan of Clovis can see how they've gotten such good use out of them, too.

Nissan Frontier, for instance, is a mid-size work truck ready for any job, with available V6 brawn, a five-speed manual transmission for dependable hauling, optional 4WD with an electronic locking rear differential and rugged skid plates, and a 3,500-pound tow rating. Nissan NV Cargo, on the other hand, has a durable body-on-frame chassis, akin to a truck rather than an SUV, it features a powerful V8, comes in a high-roof model for cavernous (and highly customizable) interior space, and can tow up to a whopping 9,400 pounds.
