Don't Believe These Motor Oil Myths

We all want our vehicles to run at peak performance, and replacing your oil is one of the most important types of maintenance you need to do to your vehicle. But there are many motor oil myths that continue to circulate.

Some people think that you need to replace your oil every 3,000 miles. This, however, is only partially true. In the past, vehicles were designed to have the oil replaced at 3,000 miles, but the way that cars are designed has changed. Today, motor oil can be replaced every 5,000 or 10,000 miles on some vehicles.

Another misnomer is that you should always replace your oil before you go on a road trip. If you'll need an oil change before you return, then you should have your oil changed before you go. But if your oil will be good throughout the trip, you can hold off until you get back.
